Rodney Wilson
Financial Literacy Educator, Entrepreneur, Author & Nonprofit Founder — Columbus, Georgia
Who He Is
Rodney Lamont Wilson is a Columbus, Georgia-based financial literacy educator and entrepreneur who learned credit by needing it. His path into the financial world didn’t start in a classroom — it started with his own experience figuring out how credit really works, the hard way. That first-person honesty shapes everything he teaches: no hype, no shortcuts, no empty promises.
Rodney is the Founder of Wilson Financial and Sons LLC, a for-profit company focused on financial education, and the Founder and Executive Director of The Gift of The Ride Corp, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving youth and families in the Columbus community.
Wilson Financial and Sons LLC
Founded in 2020, Wilson Financial and Sons LLC (WFS) is built on a simple conviction: education first. The company provides personal credit education, business credit guidance, financial foundations, mentorship, and courses — designed to help clients understand how credit and capital actually work so they can participate in their own financial progress.
WFS is explicitly not a traditional “credit repair shop.” Its model follows a clear path: education → client participation → guided implementation → fulfillment support → financial readiness. Through the company’s 90-day “WFS Capital Ready” mentorship, clients move through four phases — Repair, Build, Fund, Grow — learning practical skills at every step.
Rodney also teaches through accessible, low-cost courses, including Master Your Finances and Build Your Financial Future, and shares free financial education content on YouTube at @rodneywilsonwfsllc (3.7K subscribers).
The Gift of The Ride Corp
In 2022, Rodney founded The Gift of The Ride Corp, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 88-1970919) serving the Columbus, Georgia community. The nonprofit’s work centers on youth entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and community empowerment.
Its flagship program, the Business Shower Initiative, helps high-school students with business planning, budgeting, and credit awareness — giving young people the financial foundations Rodney wishes he’d had earlier. The Gift of The Ride works in partnership with the National Alliance for Youth Empowerment and Violence Prevention on community initiatives.
Authorship
Rodney is the author of credit-education e-books published on Kindle, written to make the credit system understandable for everyday readers.
Community Work
Through The Gift of The Ride Corp, Rodney organizes community events and outreach in Columbus, Georgia — including the December 2024 toy drive at Uptown Columbus’s Holly Jolly Market, covered by Columbus CEO, and “Set It Off II,” a community event scheduled for November 14, 2026.
Mission Statement
To put honest, practical financial education within reach of every person — and every young person — who needs it, so they can build credit, build businesses, and build their futures on a foundation they understand.
